Paul Cote' stays in the eternal moment of now in his every approach in painting, whether it's grabbing the first color he sees, to drawing the first line he can think of in permanent Sharpie, trusting the 1st thought, the belly, to guide him. He channels celestial wisdom in his work, writing in a Pleiadian text, as well as illustrating modular transports and high-ranking alien officials in some his more subjective work, both on canvas and on the bottom of skateboard decks. He works in series, concurrently working on the 24 panel "Times of Day" series, the "Cloud" series, the "Tree" series, and the ever continuing "Modular Pod" series, an attempt to both master a particular shape, and also to depict various wheel-less anti-gravity transports, accompanied by alien text with a minimum of detail. The less imagery on a canvas to Paul, the better it is to him. Primaries and orange play a large part in his work, as is sharpie drawn shapes, rough around the edges, with an outsider 2D look and feel. He only hopes to uplift the viewer subconsciously with bright and compelling imagery, uninterested in political or emotional statements, interested in only using the canvas to enable human evolution in anticipation of the planet moving into 9 dimensions, culminating in a 2000 year golden age of peace and cooperation. Paul feels that he will be an important part of Earth's evolution, and uses his painting and writing in order to help bring about this synchronistic change in all humankind.
Biography: Paul Cote' was born without a middle name, number two in a set of identical twins, to 46 and 48 y.o. parents in Plant City, Florida, a redneck suburb of Tampa, in March of 1976, which puts him in the "new new new" painter category. Completely home-schooled, his mother encouraged him to illustrate his homework projects, and he began penning a comic strip at age 9, sending it out to local newspapers for publication consideration. When he moved to San Jose in 1999 to pursue skateboarding videography, he began painting acrylics on whatever he could find. Becoming very prolific, Paul had no less that ten canvases showing at a time at local coffee shops, and featured 20-30 original canvases and skateboards in a show he assembled for the Museums of Los Gatos titled, "Roll Models: Skateboarding Lifestyle In The South Bay".
Paul has since re-stocked his numerous canvases since then, and remains mostly contemporary or abstract in his work, occasionally making forays into subjective subject matter. Most recently he has been working with Seabright, an ambient shoegaze music group, doing album artwork and art direction. He shoots Super8 film and uses the still frames in his art, as well as continuing to film and edit his skateboard dvd "Disasterpiece", which is set for worldwide release, and features skate tricks synchronized with instrumental music.
